Research Interests

Dr. Lange’s research focuses on the role of unique mechanisms that regulate store-operated calcium entry (ORAI) and TRP channels in immune cells of the tumor microenvironment and its impact on the malignant progression and development of Neuroblastoma. His research explores how cytotoxic immune cells may inadvertently activate cell survival pathways in Neuroblastoma subpopulations that drive tumor progression, namely chemoresistance and metastasis. 

Additionally, Dr. Lange screens novel compounds for their ability to induce cell death in high-risk neuroblastoma via unique mechanisms that involve aberrant activity of ion channels. Through this approach, Dr. Lange aims to identify new pathways that would target both tumor cells and immune cells in the tumor microenvironment and could lead to the development of novel combination therapies.  

Collaboratively, Dr. Lange also studies bioactive components in grapes, examining their potential to counteract muscle loss and bone density reduction, particularly in the context of space travel.
